Karyn Jones honored with Volunteer of the Year award
IES Abroad presented its Volunteer of the Year Award to Karyn Jones, director of the Study Abroad Center for International Experience.
IES Abroad, a not-for-profit academic consortium offering study abroad programs to U.S. university and college students, gives the award to a person who has been instrumental in strengthening the mission of the study abroad field though volunteer efforts.
Jones has worked in international education since 1987. She served at the University of Michigan, Syracuse University, and Amherst College before joining Yale in 2000. At Yale, Jones established one of the best-attended study abroad fairs in New England; the Yale fair features study abroad opportunities as well as international internship, volunteer, and work opportunities. IES Abroad programs in Arles, Madrid, Milan, and Vienna have been approved as programs eligible for Yale’s International Summer Abroad Funding.
IES Abroad offers study abroad programs to more than 5,500 U.S. college students each year who participate in 100 programs at 35 international locations. It offers programs in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and South America. For more information, visit the website.
