New SEAS site showcases engineering students' work

Prospective students and employers now have a window into lives and talents of graduate students at the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) thanks to a new website created by a doctoral student in biomedical engineering.

The SEAS Graduate Student Profile System is a repository for the background, interests and accomplishments of over 200 Yale graduate students in four engineering disciplines: biomedical, electrical, chemical and environmental, and mechanical and materials.

“Employers and schools are increasingly looking for insights into the quality of student work and this system allows students to take control of their online presence,” says Alp Kucukelbir, the site’s creator. “For recruitment purposes, it’s useful to allow prospective students to get a candid peek inside the department and at current students.”

With a single click on the student’s name, users of the website http://gradstudents.seas.yale.edu can find photos, a resume, links to papers and other information about their area of research. The site is currently being populated and is expected to be fully functional by the beginning of the fall semester.
