Study examines effectiveness of Safe Motherhood Project in Indonesia

Researchers at the Yale School of Public Health conducted an independent analysis of a multimillion-dollar program funded by the World Bank to improve maternal and child health in rural Indonesia.

The study — led by Jennifer Prah Ruger, associate professor in the division of Health Policy and Administration — was among the first to evaluate how the Safe Motherhood Project, a $42.5 million aid program that ran from 1998 to 2003, affected child and maternal health outcomes.
