Ghana’s vice president honored at Global Health Leadership Conference

Today was the final day of the third annual Global Health Leadership Conference at Yale. President Richard C. Levin greeted the 25 international delegates during a luncheon where he presented Ghana’s Vice President John Dramani Mahama with a certificate acknowledging his country’s participation in the conference. Levin toasted the delegates and applauded their commitment to improving health care and to bettering the lives of people around the world.

Mahama, visited the conference to meet and commend delegates from his country who attended. Delegates participated in the conference to exchange knowledge and strategies with other country participants on how to best handle health care challenges facing their nations. Ghanaian participants were particularly focused on learning how to better address the mental health problems that plague their country.

Mahama greeted all delegates during the luncheon, where he said that the one thing he hopes for all participants is that they return home “confused” because that means they have learned from each other and are thinking about new ways to address health care issues.

Twenty-five delegates from Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Africa, Liberia and Ghana attended the week-long Conference at Yale. The conference provides a forum for country delegates to exchange strategies, ideas and knowledge about health systems.
