MEDIA ADVISORY: Yale Cancer Expert Available to Speak on NIH Annual Report on the Status of Cancer
World-leading cancer expert Roy Herbst, M.D. of Yale Cancer Center is available to speak on the National Institutes of Health Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer, embargoed for release until 4:00 PM EDT today.
Dr. Herbst is chief of medical oncology at Yale School of Medicine and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, and is the associate director for translational medicine. He has had a distinguished career in the development of cancer therapies.
The NIH report finds continued declines in many cancer death rates for men and women, and also finds that the overall rate of new cancer diagnoses have decreased. Additionally, the report finds, for the first time, lung cancer death rates have decreased in women, more than a decade after rates began dropping in men.
