The Organization of American States (OAS) Extends Scholarship and Financial Aid Benefits to Yale University

The Organization of American States (OAS) has extended its scholarship and financial aid benefits, geared towards students from Latin America and the Caribbean who are interested in pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees, to include those attending Yale’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

The OAS provides both scholarships and interest-free educational loans for students. Academic Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of two academic years to provide funds to cover, in whole or in part, tuition and mandatory fees, international travel to and from the place of study, health insurance, living expenses, the purchase of books and other study materials, as well as to complete a dissertation or other work required for graduation — up to a maximum of US$30,000 per academic year. Under the OAS’ Rowe Fund Loan Program, students may obtain interest-free educational loans up to US$15,000 to study or do research. The OAS is the world’s oldest regional organization, and is the principal political, juridical, and social governmental forum in the hemisphere. It was established to achieve “an order of peace and justice, to promote their [members’] solidarity, to strengthen their collaboration, and to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity, and their independence.” Today it comprises the 35 independent states of the Americas.
