The Yale-China Association has named eight current and former students as Yale-China Teaching Fellows.
During their two-year appointments, the new fellows will teach academic writing and oral English courses, as well as American history and culture to Chinese university and high school students. Throughout their assignments, they also intensively study Chinese language and culture and immerse themselves in a local community. The Yale-China Teaching Fellowship has been in existence since 1909.
The new fellows are:
Chacey Bryan ‘10 and Gang Chen ‘10, who will be teaching English language and literature at Yali Middle School in Changsha, Hunan province.
Elizabeth Weissberg ‘09 and William Whitaker ‘10, who will teach academic writing courses for English majors and lecture on American history and culture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Douglas Endrizzi ‘10 and Aaron Reiss ‘10, who will teach English at Xiuning Middle School, a rural high school in southern Anhui province.
Medical English Fellows
The Yale-China Association also appoints two Yale-China Medical English Fellows annually who spend a year in China teaching medical English and engaging in clinical and research projects. This year’s fellows are Eileen Regan ‘10 and Lin Shen, a third-year student at the Yale School of Medicine.
They will teach medical English at the Xiangya School of Medicine at Central South University in Changsha, Hunan province. The Xiangya School of Medicine was founded by the Yale-China Association in 1914.
