Art Place Exhibit at Yale Physicians Building Celebrates ‘Art That Heals’
Art Place, a nonprofit arts organization founded and supported by Yale Medical Group, will open its 16th show with a reception on May 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Yale Physicians Building, 800 Howard Ave.
The exhibition features new work by six regional artists who create “artwork that heals” and will be on display throughout the five floors of the Yale Physician’s Building from May 13 through February 6, 2011.
Highlights include: new landscape paintings by Joan Levy; photographs and constructions by Kevin Van Aelst; mandalas and clay sculptures by Melody Lane; color field paintings by David Morico; charcoal drawings and photographs by Anita Soos; and an installation of travel photography by Eddie Torres. A selection of work from Art Place’s permanent collection will also be on display throughout the building to honor those who have donated their work over the years.
“Over the past 10 years, we have accomplished our main mission: to increase the quality of care for patients and staff by exhibiting annually rotating group exhibitions of compelling art that integrate color, hope and creative sources of meditation into the clinical environment,” said Terry Dagradi, director and curator of Art Place Exhibitions.
Parking is free the night of the reception in the Howard Avenue Garage. After the reception, the exhibit will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, please contact Terry Dagradi at firstname.lastname@example.org or 203-737-5276.
