Sir Nigel Sheinwald KCMG, British Ambassador to the U.S., will deliver a lecture at Yale titled “Afghanistan and Pakistan: The New Political Strategy.” The talk will take place at 3:15 p.m. on February 23 in the Sterling Library Lecture Hall, 128 Wall Street. It is being co-sponsored by Yale’s Office of International Affairs, the Yale Law School, the Grand Strategy Program and the Yale School of Management.
Ambassador Sheinwald joined the British Diplomatic Service in 1976 and has served in Washington, D.C. (twice), Brussels (twice) and Moscow and in a wide range of policy jobs in London. He took up his position as British Ambassador to the U.S. in October 2007. In that role he leads the Embassy in Washington and nine Consulates-General around the United States.
Before becoming Ambassador in Washington, he served as Foreign Policy and Defense Adviser to British Prime Minister Tony Blair from 2003 to 2007.
