Experts will discuss and give demonstrations of x-ray diffraction (XRD), an important tool being used to analyze all kinds of matter — from fluids to powders and crystals — at a symposium taking place on Friday, May 29.
The inaugural “Yale-Rigaku Symposium on X-ray Diffraction” will take place 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in Rm. 110, Sterling Chemistry Laboratory, 225 Prospect St. It is co-sponsored by the Yale Department of Chemistry and Rigaku Americas Corporation.
The symposium will explore current analytical and technological trends in XRD. Experts will address topics ranging from chemical crystallography to nanomaterial analysis, and there will be “hands-on” workshops in Yale’s new Center for Chemical Crystallography.
Featured speakers will include Wade Adams, director, Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology, Rice University; Professor Alan Pinkerton of the University of Toledo; Professor Robert Crabtree of Yale; and Lee Daniels and Akhilesh Tripathi of Rigaku Americas Corporation.
