TwigTek, an electronic recycling company founded by Yale undergraduates, has partnered with the United Way in a electronics collection campaign. Small electronic devices donated to the United Way of Greater New Haven are recycled by TwigTek, which, in turn, shares a portion of the proceeds from the value of those old devices with the United Way. The proceeds will help support the United Way’s Success by 6 program, an early childhood education initiative to ensure that every child in the region is ready to succeed and learn by school age.

This “Live United and Live Green” campaign will help reduce the problem of electronic waste while also improving children’s lives. Less than 15% of Americans know of programs that properly dispose of handheld electronics, according to organizers of the campaign.
