Two Juniors Honored for Academic Work With Goldwater Scholarships
Two Yale College juniors have been awarded prestigious Goldwater fellowships for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The scholarships were among 278 awarded for academic achievement by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
James Luccarelli of Branford College is working simultaneously on B.S. and M.S degrees from the Department of Chemistry and wants to pursue a career in pharmaceutical research.
Sameer Gupta of Calhoun College is a double major in anthropology and molecular, cellular and developmental biology. He is editor in chief of the Yale Anthropology Journal and editor of Yale Scientific Magazine. He plans to pursue a career in genetic research.
Recent Goldwater scholars have gone on to receive 73 Rhodes Scholarships and 102 Marshall Scholarships.
