Students Urged to Notify Yale College if Financial Aid Need has Changed
Undergraduates have been informed that they should apply for additional financial aid for the spring term if their family’s economic circumstances have changed due to the financial crisis or other events.
The Director of Student Financial Services issued the following message regarding undergraduate financial aid:
A Note to All Members of the Yale College Community
I am writing this note to assure all of you of our continued commitment to meeting the full demonstrated need of all students in Yale College. If there have been significant changes in your family’s assets or if there has been a change in employment status for a family member, you should contact the Student Financial Services office at 246 Church Street, first floor. Feel free to visit us in person (Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30), by telephone (203) 432-2700, or by email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will discuss your situation with you to determine whether an increase in your financial aid for the spring term might be appropriate given the changes in your family’s finances.
For those students and parents who have not previously applied for financial aid, and who believe that they might now be eligible for support, you should refer to our application instructions (see the application instructions for 2008—2009). We will accept new spring term 2009 applications until March 15, 2009. You may also use our financial aid calculator to determine if you might be eligible for need-based financial aid given your changed circumstances.
We all understand that the economic changes of the past few months are causing much worry and anxiety. Yale stands ready to assist students and families with their financial concerns so that the academic year can be completed without interruption.
