‘Cancer Survivorship Boot Camp’ to be offered

The Yale Cancer Center and CT Challenge Survivorship Clinic will sponsor a “Cancer Survivorship Boot Camp” from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Oak Lane Country Club, 1027 Racebrook Rd. in Woodbridge.

The camp will be conducted by Scott Capozza, a physical therapist; Lina Chase, a clinical social worker; Maura Harrigan, a nutritionist; and Thomas Quinn, a nurse practioner. It is free and open to the public.

Smith to be featured speaker at Eli Whitney Museum

Gaddis Smith, the Larned Professor Emeritus of History, lecturer in history and lecturer at the Henry Koerner Center for Emeritus Faculty, will speak at the annual meeting of the Eli Whitney Museum.

Smith’s topic will be A.C. Gilbert, who graduated 100 years ago and embodied the ideals of Yale in that epoch. Gilbert won a gold medal in the 1908 Olympics and built a world famous learning toy manufacturing company in New Haven. In 1991, the museum began collecting and adapting for contemporary children activities that were the core of the Gilbert Company’s catalog.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct 28. It will be preceded by a reception at 5:30 p.m. The museum is located at 915 Whitney Ave. in Hamden.
