"Science, Environment and the Media" Panel Discussion at Yale

The Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies (YIBS) will host a panel discussion “Science, Environment and the Media” at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 in Luce Hall Auditorium, 34 Hillhouse Avenue. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Sponsored by the Edward P. Bass Distinguished Lecture Series, a program endowed by Yale Alumnus, Bass, the event will bring together six authorities with perspectives on creating public awareness of the environmental sciences.

Sponsored by the Edward P. Bass Distinguished Lecture Series, a program endowed by Yale Alumnus, Bass, the event will bring together six authorities with perspectives on creating public awareness of the environmental sciences.

The panel will be moderated by Thomas Lovejoy, President of the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics and the Environment

Panelists for the discussion will be:

• Steve Curwood, Journalist, Author and Executive Producer/Host of the Public Radio International program “Living on Earth”

• Dennis Dimick, Executive Editor, National Geographic

• Bob Kaiser, Associate Editor of the Washington Post

• Mark Shelley, Executive Producer and Director of Photography, Sea Studios

• Gus Speth, Dean, Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies

The Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies, created in May, 1990 with an endowment from Bass, serves as a principal focus for Yale University’s research and training efforts in the environmental sciences. It provides physical and intellectual centers for research and education that address fundamental questions that will inform the ability to generate solutions to the biosphere’s most critical environmental solutions.
