The business and environment interface is also a major point of discussion at the Davos meeting. Since it was published in October, “Green to Gold” has garnered widespread media attention, with articles appearing in Time (“How Business Saw the Light,” Jan. 5), the Wall Street Journal (“Greener Pastures,” Dec. 29) and Forbes (“Feel Green, Feel Good,” Oct. 2). In addition, “Green to Gold” appeared in the top 10 of the business bestseller list on Amazon.com.

“Green to Gold” uses examples of companies that have employed environmentally friendly strategies to their advantage, including BP, IKEA, Toyota, Ford, McDonald’s and GE. “A Green Wave is sweeping the business world,” writes Esty and co-author Andrew Winston, director of the Corporate Environmental Strategy Project at Yale. “And it is propelled by two fundamental forces: environmental stresses, and a world of people who are insisting that the business community take action in response.”

The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is continuing to attract attention. Copies of the Pilot Index are available at www.yale.edu/epi, and Esty is available to discuss progress on the EPI and benchmarks for current national pollution control and natural resource management results.

Esty will be in Davos until January 28, and can be reached at +1 203 432 6065.
