Yale Library Demonstrates the Craft of Preservation
On March 30, at 11:00 a.m. Yale University’s preservation staff at the Sterling Memorial Library will discuss the art and science that enabled the saving of hundreds of books and newspapers that were damaged from a ruptured steam pipe in January.
Head of the Yale Library Preservation Department, Roberta Pilette, and colleagues will explain how the books and valuable Cambodian newspapers, which were feared to be permanently damaged in the incident, were recovered. Examples of the now dry books and newspapers will be available for review.
Members of the media are invited to attend this unique event, which will take place at 11 a.m. at the Conservation Laboratory of Sterling Memorial Library, 120 High St. For access to the library, use the entrance on Wall St.
Because space is limited, please contact Amanda Patrick, (203) 432 8061. if you wish to attend.
