On November 17, Dennis Spencer, M.D., the Harvey and Kate Cushing Professor and Chair of Neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine, will deliver the inaugural Robinson Memorial Lecture at Clinical Neuroscience Grand Rounds in the Brady Auditorium.

The annual lecture was established in honor of the late Franklin Robinson, M.D., clinical professor of neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine, attending neurosurgeon at Yale-New Haven Hospital, chief of the Section of Neurological Surgery at St. Raphael’s Hospital, senior consultant in neurosurgery at Griffin Hospital in Derby, and a consultant at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Meriden.

The lecture was established by Robinson’s wife, Gloria Robinson, Ph.D., a research affiliate and lecturer in the History of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. The Franklin Robinson Fund in Neurosurgery was established “to honor the memory of Dr. Franklin Robinson and his contributions to excellence in the practice of and teaching of and, research and scholarship in Neurosurgery.”

Spencer has said that Robinson helped forge strong teacher/student bonds in the New Haven neurosurgery community. “His historical perspective guides us as we look into the future of neurosurgery,” Spencer said.

Spencer’s talk is titled “The Future of Neurosurgery.” Grand Rounds are held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Brady Auditorium, Brady Memorial Laboratory Building, 310 Cedar St.
