Groundbreaking for Yale Engineering Research Building December 11
Yale President Richard C. Levin and Provost Susan Hockfield will preside over a groundbreaking ceremony for the Yale Engineering Research Building on December 11 at 11 a.m. at the corner of Prospect and Trumbull Streets.
Biomedical engineering has been an interdisciplinary program at the undergraduate and graduate levels since 1998. The Department of Biomedical Engineering, chaired by Mark Saltzman, was instituted in July 2003.
The building will house laboratory and research facilities for biomedical engineering, Yale’s newest department.
Speakers, welcomed by Engineering Dean Paul Fleury will include:

*D. Allan Bromley, Sterling Professor of the Sciences, Dean of Yale Graduate School
*Cesar Pelli, Principal, Cesar Pelli & Associates
In case of inclement weather the speakers will present in Davies Auditorium at Becton Center, 15 Prospect Street. A reception will follow.
