Yale Medical School Auction to Benefit the Needy, Nov. 17-20
Weekend retreats, dinners at local restaurants, homemade goodies, and personal services, are among the items available to the highest bidder at Yale Medical School’s benefit auction Nov. 17-20.
The annual Hunger and Homelessness Auction organized by students in the medical school, public health and nursing programs will raise funds for organizations dedicated to alleviating hunger and homelessness in the Greater New Haven area.
There will be a silent auction 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 17-20, in the rotunda at Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. A live auction will take place Nov. 20, 4-6 p.m., in Harkness Auditorium at the same address.
Faculty, students, staff and local businesses donate the items. Bidders should be prepared to pay by cash or check at the time of the purchase.
Last year’s auction raised more than $30,000. Grants from the proceeds went to New Haven Cares, Loaves & Fishes, St. Thomas Moore Soup Kitchen, New Haven Homelessness Resource Center, New Haven Home Recovery Inc., Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen and Douglas House.
The Health and Human Rights Committee and the Women’s Health Initiative are co-sponsoring the auction this year.
