Renovations of the Pierpont House are complete and the Yale Visitor Center, temporarily housed in Dwight Hall on Old Campus, has returned to its home at 149 Elm Street, where it recently opened its doors to the public once again.

The house, built in 1767, is New Haven’s oldest residence. The building underwent extensive renovations to the interior for the past year, including new wiring, plumbing, roofing, windows, heating and air conditioning. Exterior work included trim and siding repairs, landscaping and fencing. The Center occupies the first floor and the Koerner Center for Emeritus Faculty is located on the second and third floors.

As always, the Center offers free campus tours every weekday at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., as well as weekend tours at 1:30 p.m. The walking tours, which are both entertaining and informative, are led by Yale student guides. The Center, which is always available to arrange special group tours, will continue to provide University maps and brochures.

“We look forward to serving both the Yale community and University visitors in the months to come,” said Sheila Pastor, the Center’s director. Pastor invites anyone interested in taking the tour to call the Center at 203-432-2300.
