Former U.S. Senator Gary Hart (D-Col.) will deliver the initial address launching a new Yale University lecture series, “Democracy, Security and Justice: Perspectives on the American Future.” A press briefing will be held prior to Sen. Hart’s address.

Hart’s talk is titled “Is Security Possible When War Becomes Crime?” He is co-chair with Warren B. Rudman of the Commission on National Security/21st Century. The talk will cover some of the issues raised in the comprehensive report on national security that Hart authored with Rudman.

Described in a recent AP account as “prescient,” the Hart-Rudman report considers many of the non-traditional components of a national security strategy. These include technological advances, the education of America’s youth and commercial relationships in a global economy.
