Gary Hart to Speak at Yale on National Security

Former United States Senator Gary Hart will speak at Yale on Tuesday, October 2, in a talk titled “Is Security Possible When War Becomes Crime?”

Hart is co-chair with Warren B. Rudman of the Commission on National Security/21st Century.

The talk will cover some of the issues raised in the comprehensive report on national security that Hart authored with Rudman.

Described in a recent AP account as “prescient,” the Hart-Rudman report considers many of the non-traditional components of a national security strategy. These include technological advances, the education of America’s youth and commercial relationships in a global economy.

The talk is the first in the Yale University Discussion and Lecture Series, “Democracy, Security and Justice: Perspectives on the American Future.”

It will take place in Battell Chapel (corner of College and Elm streets) at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
