Broadway Set for Grand Re-opening Saturday

The Broadway Merchants Association and Yale University invite neighbors from the community to join in a day-long festival celebrating the completion of the latest development phase of the Broadway retail district on Saturday, June 23.

The Broadway Merchants Association and Yale University invite neighbors from the community to join in a day-long festival celebrating the completion of the latest development phase of the Broadway retail district on Saturday, June 23.

The festivities include live performances by popular local bands from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Market Island between Broadway and Elm Street, as well as raffles and food samples from area restaurants. Invited guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony include Yale President Richard C. Levin; Bruce Alexander, vice president and director of Yale’s office of New Haven and State Affairs; and Hon. John DeStefano Jr., mayor of New Haven. Events will continue well into the evening with an open dance party at Toad’s Place.

The grand re-opening officially welcomes Broadway’s newest arrival, SoHo designer Alexia Crawford, whose stylish jewelry and handbags are distributed worldwide. Among the latest additions to the district are: Urban Outfitters, Gourmet Heaven, Koffee Too? and Whimsels.

These exciting new merchants join established Broadway Merchants Association members Au Bon Pan, Barrie’s Ltd., Book Haven, Broadway Hair, Campus Clothing Co., Cosi, Cutler’s Records, Educated Burgher, Fleet Bank, Holiday Inn, Ivy Noodle, J. Press, Merwin’s Art, N.E.A. Credit Union, Origins, Phil’s Hair, Team Computer, Toad’s Place, TrailBlazer, Tyco Copy Center, Yale Bookstore, Yankee Doodle, York Copy Center, Yorkside Restaurant and York Square Cinema.
