School of Forestry and Environmental Studies Names Communications Director
The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies has appointed David DeFusco as its director of communications and external relations.
DeFusco is responsible for media relations, publications, publicizing lecture series and special events, and forging strategic alliances with institutions that have complementary missions.
“A vital aspect of Dave’s mission is to promote the School’s internationally respected faculty whose teaching and research efforts are aimed at solving local, national, and global environmental problems,” said Dean James Gustave Speth.
Prior to joining Yale, DeFusco was director of public relations for two years at the Visiting Nurse/VNA Care Network, a partnership of three non-profit agencies that offers home care, hospice and counseling services to individuals and families in Fairfield County. He was the organization’s spokesman and liaison to the media, edited and designed the network’s newsletter, and managed the web site.
Prior to that, he was associate director of publications at Fairfield University where he edited the quarterly alumni newsletter, monthly internal administrative newspaper, course catalogs, and the web site.
The School of Forestry & Environmental Studies offers master’s degree programs in environmental science, environmental management, forestry science, and forestry. In addition, the School offers joint-degree programs with the Law School, the School of Management, the Medical School’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, the Graduate School’s International Relations program, and the International and Development Economics program of the Graduate School’s Department of Economics.
