Michelin and Yale Unveil "The Green Guide: Yale University and New Haven" First-Ever Guide to a University and Its Host Town
Michelin Travel Publications will unveil a guide to Yale and New Haven at a press event tomorrow, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Yale University Visitor Information Center, 149 Elm St.
Green and red guidebooks published by the French-based Michelin Corporation have been among the most respected travel series in the world. Commemorating Yale’s 300th birthday in 2001, this is Michelin’s first-ever guide to a university and its host town.
“The Green Guide: Yale University and New Haven” will help tourists, prospective students, residents and alumni explore the architecture, museums, theaters and other cultural attractions, and broad and growing assortment of fine restaurants and hotels that make the University and city special. The guide also covers Yale traditions, student life, and an assortment of famous alumni, including President Bush, actress and director Jodie Foster, football legend Walter Camp, and inventor Eli Whitney.
Michelin will donate $1 of every sale to New Haven Reads, a new community-based initiative that will support and publicize literacy partnerships, gather and disseminate information about reading in New Haven and collect and distribute books.
The guide will be sold at the Yale Bookstore and retailers in the New Haven area for $14.95.
