Yale Holds Reception for Homebuyers
The Yale University Office of New Haven and State Affairs is holding a reception Wednesday, June 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the nearly 350 Yale staff and faculty members who have purchased their homes in New Haven through the University’s Homebuyer Program.
Media members are invited to attend the reception at Silliman College, 505 College Street in New Haven, and speak with program participants.
The Homebuyer Program currently provides $25,000 over ten years to Yale employees who buy and live in a home in designated New Haven neighborhoods. Nearly 90 faculty members, 70 management and professional employees, 136 clerical and technical workers, and 46 service and maintenance personnel have bought homes through the program. The majority of program participants are first-time homebuyers.
Yale has committed $7.2 million to the program, which began in 1994 as part of the New Haven Initiative established by President Richard C. Levin.
