Portrait of President Bush to Be Presented to Yale
A portrait of President George H. W. Bush – Class of 1948 – will be presented to Yale University on Friday, May 29, on the occasion of the 50th reunion of his graduating class. The presentation will take place in University Commons Dining Hall adjacent to Woolsey Hall, noon to 12:30 p.m. A private luncheon for alumni and guests will follow.
The portrait is an oil painting by Ronald Sherr, whose earlier portrait of President Bush now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The work measures 7’ x 5’ and will be hung 20’ above the ground in University Commons.
“George Bush has brought honor to the Class of 1948,” said classmate Wilson – Rolly – Nolen, who was active in forming the committee of Yale alumni who commissioned the work.
Members of the media are invited to attend the presentation ceremony. Credentials will be available at a media table in the Woolsey Hall rotunda from 11:30-11:45 a.m. Please bring identification.
