The Yale F&ES is collaborating with the UNDP to seek new and innovative approaches to solving urban environmental problems in developing countries through partnerships between the public and private sectors. As part of this initiative, Yale and the UNDP recently launched a two-year program to exchange ideas and build networks on key issues, including private capital investment, water, energy and waste management.

Speakers are Alison F. Richard, Yale University provost, and James Gustave Speth, UNDP administrator. Also attending will be Frances G. Beinecke, associate director, Natural Resources Defense Council; Luis Gomez-Echeverri and Bradford S. Gentry, co-directors, Yale/UNDP Public-Private Partnership; John C. Gordon, dean, Yale F&ES; and Thomas E. Lovejoy, counselor to the Secretary for Biodiversity and Environmental Affairs, Smithsonian Institution. Friends and alumni/ae of Yale University also have been invited to attend.

The discussion will focus on the potential for public-private partnerships to promote sustainability in the developing world. For more information, call Gentry or Gomez-Echeverri at (203) 432-9374.
