Celebrate the Year of the Tiger at Yale

In honor of the Year of the Tiger, the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at Yale will host a festive gathering on Saturday, Jan. 31, 7-11:30 p.m. in the McDougal Graduate Student Center at Yale University, 320 York St. Photographers and reporters are welcome.

In honor of the Year of the Tiger, the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at Yale will host a festive gathering on Saturday, Jan. 31, 7-11:30 p.m. in the McDougal Graduate Student Center at Yale University, 320 York St. Photographers and reporters are welcome.

From 7-9 p.m., the program will include demonstrations of kung fu, Chinese opera, folk dance and other traditional arts. People’s Republic of China Ambassador Qiu Sheng-Yun (Chinese Consulate General, New York City) and New Haven’s Mayor John DeStefano Jr. will make brief speeches.

Representatives from the U.S. Postal Service will unveil a commemorative stamp featuring the Year of the Tiger at that time.

Following the presentations, performances and speeches, there will be a community celebration, with food from local Chinese restaurants, dancing and karaoke.
