Jimmy Carter, the 39th U.S. president, speaks in an open forum at Yale on the world's discrimination and violence against women and girls, which he believes is the most serious, pervasive, and ignored violation of basic human rights. Throughout his travels, Carter said, he has seen inequality rising rapidly with each passing decade -— and that this is true in both rich and poor countries, and among the citizens within them.
