Over 500 members of the Yale and New Haven communities celebrated the university's diversity at the annual Multicultural New Haven Block Party on Sept. 13. The event, which connects Yale students, scholars, and employees with each other and with local businesses, featured face painting, dancing, musical acts, Zumba lessons, Chinese calligraphy, international games, food, fire safety demonstrations, raffles and more. The block party is hosted by Yale's seven affinity groups along with various university offices and departments. "We all had a blast," says Shirley Chock, manager of financial reporting and analysis for finance and business operations, who helps organize the event.
