Teams of students from high schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York came to campus on Oct. 18 to put their knowledge of science — and their ingenuity — to the test at the annual Yale Physics Olympics. The event, which has as its theme “physics is fun,” has been hosted by Yale’s Department of Physics since 1998. The students were given five tasks or experiments to complete; prizes were awarded to the teams with the most accurate results.
