‘Battle of the Badges’ bench press competition to benefit breast cancer

The Yale University Police Department will host the seventh annual “Battle of the Badges” bench press competition to benefit cancer research on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Payne Whitney Gymnasium, 4th floor, 70 Tower Pkwy.

The competition is open to the public. Competitors must be in teams of three. Each team member must complete a maximum number of repetitions within a prescribed time period. The number of required repetitions is based on the individual’s body weight, with men at 75% and women at 50%. There are two divisions: emergency responders/public safety/corrections and open division.

The registration fee is $20 per person or $15 for students, with all proceeds benefiting the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. To register, visit the website. The entry fee will be collected at the door and must be cash only.

Those not able to attend can donate to the cause online and indicate “Battle of the Badges” when prompted.
