Yale’s libraries are marking the 2012 Summer Olympics by sharing online posters and images from it collections of past games around the world.
Among the images from the libraries that YaleNews is featuring in a slideshow is a poster celebrating the re-establishment of the Olympic games in 1894, taken from a Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library collection titled “A Century of Olympic Posters.”
Yale’s galleries are also commemorating the London games by posting Olympics-related work from their collections. See the Yale University Art Gallery offerings on the museum’s Facebook page and the Yale Center for British Art’s sampling in this slideshow.
More news about Yale Olympians — including tales of past Yale-connected Olympians to the results of competitions in which current alumni are participating in London, is featured on the YaleNews Olympics page.
