Talk to feature Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharraf and journalist Bob Woodward

A conversation about “The Future of U.S. Pakistan Relations” will take place between General Pervez Musharraf, former President of Pakistan, and award-winning journalist Bob Woodward ’65 on Monday, April 24. It is co-sponsored by the Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and the Yale School of Management (SOM).

The event, which is open only to the Yale community, will be held 4:15-5:15 p.m. in Lei Zhang Auditorium of Edward P. Evans Hall, 165 Whitney Ave. All attendees must register online. For security reasons, the doors will shut promptly at 4:15 p.m. and late arrivals will not be allowed. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., and audience members should be seated by 4 p.m. Attendees must bring their registration confirmation email and Yale ID.

As president of Pakistan 1999-2008, Musharraf helped fight the global war on terrorism. During that time, he empowered the people of Pakistan at the grassroots level by introducing a local government system. One of his most notable achievements was the turnaround of an almost bankrupt state in 1999; he and his government helped Pakistan come off the list of Highly Indebted Poor Countries. 

Woodward is an associate editor of The Washington Post, where he has worked since 1971. He has shared in two Pulitzer Prizes, first in 1973 for the coverage of the Watergate scandal with Carl Bernstein, and second in 2002 as the lead reporter for coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He has authored or co-authored 18 books, all of which have been national non-fiction bestsellers.

The event is part of SOM’s Leaders Forum series, which brings the heads of organizations from across all sectors to Yale for discussions about the challenges and opportunities of leadership.
