Explore the Odds and Ends Art Book Fair. Books by artists and art-book makers are on display and for sale, including books from small independent publishers who focus on art, architecture, photography, and design; rare and limited-edition books and zines printed in short runs and showcasing a range of publishing endeavors; and artists’ books by students and alumni of the Yale School of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design. Immerse yourself in tropical air at the Marsh Botanical Garden’s Winter Season Open House. The program will include live music, light refreshments, and tours of the glass houses. Free, but the hat will be passed for the musicians. Greenhouse 1, 265 Mansfield St. 5-7:30 p.m.

Attend a performance of Dante Behind Bars — fragments of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” adapted by men in prison and performed by the students in Professor Ron Jenkins’ course “Sacred Texts and Social Justice.” Free. Marquand Chapel, 409 Prospect St. 4 p.m.

Celebrate the Peabody Museum of Natural History’s sesquicentennial at a screening of Jurassic Park, the last of four films that have a special connection to the museum. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, is about a theme park on a remote island off Costa Rica where living dinosaurs have been created from DNA harvested from insects. When a tropical storm hits and shuts down power, the system is sabotaged and creatures escape to rage out of control. Free. Whitney Humanities Center, Auditorium, 53 Wall St. 7 p.m.

Experience Lesvos at the Crossroads: The Soundscape of a Late Ottoman Island. Panayotis League and his ensemble will present a “musical snapshot” of the soundscape of turn-of-the century Ottoman Lesvos, including island dances, Ottoman art songs, European polkas and tangos, Romanian horas, and other pieces popular among the Greek, Turkish, Jewish, Armenian, and Levantine populations of the island and the Asia Minor coast. View art in new ways at a family program of Stories and Art, featuring folktales, myths, and stories from around the world that highlight unique objects in the Yale University Art Gallery collection. Join the Yale Glee Club at a Messiah Audience Singalong. Featuring accompaniment by the Yale Symphony, this annual community audience singalong has become a holiday staple. Scores will be available for purchase, and a portion of the donation proceeds will benefit programs serving New Haven’s homeless population. $5 suggested donation. Battell Chapel, corner of Elm and College streets. 1:30 p.m.

Attend a Service of Christmas Carols, with children’s and adult choirs, readings of the Christmas story, and reflections on the meaning of Christmas. A reception follows. Free. Trinity Baptist Church Main Sanctuary, 630 State St. 6:30 p.m.
