Tonight: “Hamilton’s America,” a documentary featuring Yale historian Joanne Freeman, debuts on PBS

“Hamilton’s America,” a documentary film that explores the making of the critically acclaimed play “Hamilton,” and the history behind it will debut on THIRTEEN’s “Great Performances” tonight at 9 p.m. The film features interviews with Joanne Freeman, professor of history at Yale, who is a noted scholar on Alexander Hamilton.

“Hamilton’s America,” a documentary film that explores the making of the critically acclaimed play “Hamilton,” and the history behind it will debut on THIRTEEN’s “Great Performances” tonight at 9 p.m. The film features interviews with Joanne Freeman, professor of history at Yale, who is a noted scholar on Alexander Hamilton.

According to production notes, the film “delves even deeper into the creation of the show, revealing [Lin-Manuel] Miranda’s process of absorbing and then adapting Hamilton’s epic story into groundbreaking musical theater.” In addition to Freeman, the film features a range of interviews with experts, politicians, and musicians including President Barack Obama, President George W. Bush, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Black Thought, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Sondheim.
