This year’s Yale-United Way campaign raised over $1.3 million — “more, as of Jan. 31, than in any previous year,” President Peter Salovey reported in a Feb. 11 email to the Yale community.

“The more than $1.3 million in donations and pledges now in hand represent the collective effort of over 2,000 faculty and staff members who have given online or participated in campus events, including more than 500 new donors and more than 300 who increased their contribution from last year,” wrote Salovey.

The Yale-United Way partnership “touches the lives of so many of our neighbors in our home city and region, and our collective efforts truly do make a difference,” said Salovey, noting that “$1 out of every $4 donated to the United Way of Greater New Haven comes from the generosity of Yale’s faculty and staff.”

While the annual target date for the campaign is Jan. 31, donations and pledges have traditionally come in through February and March, “and these gifts are most welcome,” the President said. Those who still wish to give or to increase their donation, can use the online form at at http://unitedway.yale.edu.

Salovey concluded, “I offer my heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers and donors who make the Yale-United Way campaign a success, and to all those at Yale who share their time, effort, and resources to make our community stronger.”
