Exploring and engaging: Thousands attend second annual Founders Day

More than 1,500 faculty, students, and staff explored campus venues and engaged with members of the community outside their own offices, classrooms, and laboratories on Oct. 7, during the second annual Founders Day.

More than 1,500 faculty, students, and staff explored campus venues and engaged with members of the community outside their own offices, classrooms, and laboratories on Oct. 7, during the second annual Founders Day.

Open houses were offered at the President’s house, multiple sites on West Campus, the Rose Alumni House, the Kiphuth Trophy Room at Payne Whitney Gymnasium, the Hall of Graduate Studies, and Mory’s

Tours sites included the Grove Street Cemetery the Cushing Center at the Yale School of Medicine, Harkness Tower and the Yale Memorial Carillon, Woodbridge Hall, the Yale Repertory Theatre; Sterling Memorial Library, Hall of Graduate Studies, and Hillhouse Avenue.

More than 2,500 people came through Cross Campus for a mid-day celebration with food, singing by the Citations and the Yale Gospel Choir, photo booths, and remarks by President Peter Salovey.

Salovey himself visited with hundreds of faculty, students, and staff in the morning, in a series of “drop-in” visits at the Divinity School, School of Management, School of Public Health, and West Campus.

In his remarks throughout the day, the President noted the university’s goals for the future and emphasized, “It’s not just buildings; it’s how we create opportunities to get out and take advantage of this amazing community, great colleagues, and inspirers.”
