Johannes Hörner, newly appointed as the Alfred Cowles Professor of Economics, focuses his research on repeated games, dynamic games, and auctions.

After receiving a M.Sc. from HEC (France) and a M.A from DELTA 
(France), Hörner attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in economics.
 He has held faculty positions at the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and the HEC School of Management. He came to Yale in 2007 as a visiting associate professor and was appointed professor of economics in 2008.

Hörner has contributed numerous articles and chapters to edited volumes and journals on topics such as biased social learning; reputation and competition; and specialized careers. He is associate editor of Econometrica and the Journal of Economic Theory, and co-editor of Economic Theory and Theoretical Economics. His honors include the William Polk Carey Prize and a National Science Foundation grant.
