Huffpollster analyst to discuss predictions about mid-term elections

Natalie Jackson, senior data scientist for the Huffington Post, will speak at Yale on Thursday, Oct. 30 as a Poynter Fellow in Journalism. Jackson will give a talk titled “Midterm 2014: Expert Perspectives and Predictions” at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, 77 Prospect St., in Rm. After earning her Ph.D. in political science from the University of Oklahoma, Jackson completed additional statistics training from ICPSR at the University of Michigan and postdoctoral work at Duke University. Jackson then worked at the Marist College Poll as a senior analyst, and helped to conduct NBC News/Wall Street Journal battleground state polls for the 2012 election cycle.

Currently, Jackson works primarily in the HuffPollster section, aggregating polls, building forecasting models, and covering advances and controversies in survey research methodology.

The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism was established by Nelson Poynter, who received his master’s degree in 1927 from Yale. The fellowship brings to campus journalists from a wide variety of media outlets who have made significant contributions to their field. Among recent Poynter fellows are Michael Forsythe, Seymour Hersh, and Claudia La Rocco.
