Master and Margarita

See the School of Drama performance of The Master and Margarita, adapted by Edward Kemp from the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov. The producers note that this “epic and compassionate tale sweeps from ancient Judea to Stalinist Russia to the moment of the apocalypse, testing the power of love, faith, and forgiveness to transform a broken contemporary world.” Iseman Theater, 1156 Chapel St. Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Football

Get in the spirit at the Bowl as the Yale Bulldogs take on the Penn Quakers. It’s also Yale’s annual Employee Day at the 100-year-old Yale Bowl. Join in the pre-game activities for family fun, food, raffles, games and, of course, football. Yale Bowl, 81 Central Ave. Employee activities start at 11:30 a.m.; kickoff at 1:30 p.m.

Figures of empire

Take a docent-led tour of the exhibit Figures of Empire: Slavery and Portraiture in 18-Century Atlantic Britain. This exhibition explores the relationship between the transatlantic slave trade and portraiture in 18th-century metropolitan Britain. Free. Yale Center for British Art,1080 Chapel St. 1 p.m.

Whiffenpoofs

Listen to the a cappella harmonies of the Yale Whiffenpoofs in a concert to support the Leeway, Inc. Nursing Home, which has provided 20 years of service in the community. First Church of Christ, 250 Temple St. 7 p.m.

Marsh Garden

Take a tour of Marsh Botanical Garden or just wander through the greenhouses. Volunteer docents will lead tours of the greenhouses and outdoor gardens, weather permitting. The tours start on the hour, and last about 45 or 50 minutes. Free. Greenhouses at Marsh Botanical Garden, 265 Mansfield St. 11 a.m.-3 p.m.


A L L  W E E K E N D


Ibero

Pick and choose from feature films, shorts, documentaries, and animations at the New England Festival of Ibero American Cinema Festival. NEFIAC is a showcase of the latest Hispanic, Portuguese, and Latino films as well as a chance to interact with filmmakers. All of the films have English subtitles. Free, but register in advance. Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. Schedule of times and locations.
