Staff member T. Sean Maher, business manager of the Yale Glee Club, will star in a benefit production of “Tuesdays with Morrie” being held Oct. 17-18 at the Off-Broadway Theater, 41 Broadway.

“Tuesdays with Morrie” is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Albom happens to catch Schwartz’ appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS — also called Lou Gehrig’s disease). Albom is reunited with Schwartz, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class on the meaning of life. Schwartz died on Nov. 4, 1995.

Maher portrays Morrie Schwartz, with Dan Ferriouolo in the role of Mitch Albom. The production is directed by Margi Maher. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $10 for students with ID and $15 for general admission. Tickets are available by calling 203-934-3145. Reservations are encouraged. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Proceeds will go to the West Haven High School Theatre Workshop Scholarship Fund and ALS research.
