The Yale football team’s overtime victory over Army on Sept. 27 resulted in the Bulldogs being named “Big Game National Team of the Week” by the Football Writers Association of America.

Yale came from behind to score a 49-43 upset victory over the Black Knights at the Yale Bowl. It was the Bulldog’s first win over Army since 1955. This victory, in which Yale rallied from a 14-point deficit, comes on the heels of a 21-point comeback that gave Yale a 54-43 win vs. Lehigh the previous week.

Founded in 1941, the Football Writers Association of America consists of more than 1,400 members “who cover college football for a living.” The membership includes journalists, broadcasters and publicists, as well as key executives in all areas of the game.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Cornell, the Ivy League opener.
