Tennis fans who are anxiously awaiting this year’s court action in New Haven have something more to be excited about: the Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies currently has a special ticket deal for Yale employees, and a “buy one, get one free” offer for the general public.

In recognition of Yale University as a tournament sponsor, the Connecticut Open is offering early round session tickets for just $5 for Yale employees. The $5 tickets are offered for Session 1 on Sunday, Aug. 17 and Session 5 on Tuesday, Aug. 19. To receive the special offer, visit the CT Open website and use promotional code CO14YU.

Yale affiliates are also offered adult tickets at a 25% discount for the other sessions of the tournament, which takes place Aug. 15-23. For this discount, use the same promotional code mentioned above on the website or call 855-464-8366 and reference the Yale University discount.

In addition to these deals, from Aug. 1 through Aug. 8 all tennis fans can receive a free ticket after they purchase a full-priced ticket, applicable for the following events: Monday day session (Session 2); Tuesday’s day and night sessions (4 and 5); and Wednesday’s day session (6). The free ticket will be of equal or lesser value to the purchased one. Use the promotional code CO14BOGO for the “buy one, get one” deal. Fans can also call the box office at 1-855-464-8366.

The field for this year’s competition features French Open finalist and defending champion Simona Halep, four-time champion Caroline Wozniacki, and rising star Eugenie Bouchard, among other top-ranked players.

This year also marks a return of some of the world’s most noted male players — James Blake, Andy Roddick and Jim Courier — for the first-ever Connecticut Open Legends Event, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 20 and 21.

Other special events this year include Military Appreciation Night on Monday, Aug. 18, when United Technologies will honor U.S. service members. Active duty, guard, reserve, and retired military members receive one complimentary ticket with every full priced ticked purchased. The evening will featured complimentary hospitality in the United Technologies Military Outpost, located in the Pinpoint Promotions Pavillon overlooking stadium court; a free tennis clinic in the Aetna FitZone for military members and their families; and a national anthem performance by USO Show Troupe and a Color Guard presentation. Special veteran recognition will take place between the first and second matches of the evening.
