Wimbledon champ among top-ranked players coming to Connecticut Open

Eight of the world’s top-20 female tennis players — including 2014 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova — will compete in the 2014 Connecticut Open, to be held Aug. 15–23 in the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

Eight of the world’s top-20 female tennis players — including 2014 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova — will compete in the 2014 Connecticut Open, to be held Aug. 15–23 in the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

Joining Kvitova, who took the crown at the New Haven tennis tournament in 2012 will be rising star Genie Bouchard, defending champion and French Open finalist Simona Halep, and four-time Connecticut Open champion Caroline Wozniacki.

In addition fans can enjoy men’s tennis as James Blake, Andy Roddick, and Jim Courier will participate in the first-ever Connecticut Open Legends Event on Wednesday, Aug. 20 (Session 7) and Thursday, Aug. 21 (Session 9).
