Yale Statement on 'Timely Warning' Reports

The University received reports this week of two sexual assaults involving undergraduates that occurred on the same date at the same off-campus location. The Yale Police Department alerted the Yale community about the two incidents in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Clery Act.

These reports are extremely troubling. The University is taking the matters seriously and pursuing them actively.

Yale makes every effort to encourage reporting of sexual misconduct and protects the privacy of those who choose to make a report, so no other details of these incidents will be made publicly available. Anyone who chooses to come forward is offered a wide range of services and resources, including comprehensive information about options for pursuing a complaint, and support for whatever option is chosen. Those options include pursuing a criminal complaint with the police and/or a formal complaint through Yale's University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct. Comprehensive information about Yale’s response procedures and options may be found on the Sexual Misconduct Response at Yale website. Students seeking information, advocacy or support are encouraged to contact SHARE (the Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Education Center) at Yale for confidential assistance, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
