Noted food writer to speak at master’s tea

Writer, chef, and teacher Samin Nosrat will be the guest at a Morse College master’s tea on Monday, Feb. 17.

Writer, chef, and teacher Samin Nosrat will be the guest at a Morse College master’s tea on Monday, Feb. 17.

In her talk, Nosrat will discuss food writing, cooking, and how tradition and nature are tied to the foods that we eat and prepare. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Yale Sustainable Food Project, Department of English, and Morse College, will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the master’s house, 99 Tower Pkwy.

The chef is currently working on her first book, “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: The Four Elements of Good Cooking,” to be published in 2015.

Nosrat has been invited to speak about food, art, culture, and cooking at the Oakland Unified School District Nutrition Services, University of California-Berkeley, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, St. Mary’s College, University of San Francisco, the Orange Institute, the International Association of Culinary Professionals, and Artechef, the Cuban national cooking school.
