SPECIAL EVENT

Pizza Fest on the Green, featuring pies from pizzerias all around town; proceeds benefi New Haven’s Connection Fund. Noon-2 p.m. (Also: June 21 and June 27–28, noon.) Info.

 

PERFORMANCES

Christian McBride & Inside Straight, featuring the jazz bassist and his acoustic jazz quintet, and featuring a guest appearance by New Haven native and pianist Christian Sand. 8 p.m. Info.

“Goza Latin Jazz” on the Green, music and dance rhythms from Latin America, Brazil, and Spain. Noon. Free. Info.

Sambeleza on the Green, featuring a wide variety of Brazilian songs. 6 p.m. Info.

“The Quiet Volume,” an intimate theatrical experience about books, reading, and the communal experience of the library. 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with new shows beginning each half hour. (Also: June 21 and June 25-28, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.) Info.

“String Quartet Truck,” the New Haven String Quartet will perform on a flatbed truck at locations throughout the city. Noon & 2:30 p.m. (Also: June 21, noon & 2:30 p.m.) Free. Info.

“My Friend’s Story,” preview of a new opera by Yale faculty members Martin Bresnik (music), J.D. McClatchy (libretto), and David Chambers (director), inspired by Chekhov’s short story, “Terror.” 8 p.m. Info.
